Intimate Wedding at Rusted Oaks Estate | Abilene TX Wedding Photographer

Have you ever heard that rain on your wedding day is good luck? I have, too. Unfortunately, rain the entire day is not at all fun but sometimes you just have to roll with it.

Megan and her family contacted me earlier in the year about her wedding that was set for September 12. It was to be on their family’s ranch in Coleman (they actually live in Colorado and South Dakota). They had planned for their ceremony to be held under a big old oak tree that was very special to them and honestly - I was so excited for them.

Then, 2020 happened. Everything turned upside down and inside out. Travel restrictions, stay in place orders, sickness. Masks, social distancing, and the great toilet paper debacle.

The ceremony was moved up to September 10th and while they had still planned to have the ceremony under the big old oak tree, Mother Nature had other plans. Y’all, when I say it rained all day, IT RAINED ALL DAY. It never let up. Dark, gloomy, and cold. Megan and Jeff didn’t let it ruin their day, though.

The reception was already going to be held at the Rusted Oak Estate in Tuscola so on a whim, the ceremony was planned here and this day just proves that just because plans change doesn’t mean everything is ruined. Her family and friends decorated the entry way for the ceremony to be held and I think it was just so pretty and fitting for the bride.

While I hadn’t known her prior to her nuptials, Megan accepted all the changes with grace and truly showed what it meant to be a beautiful and loving bride. It was very obvious her day was not about what surrounded her but to celebrate the love for her Jeff.

We had a lot of fun just hanging out and enjoying each others company while I documented every little thing that took place. Just when we thought the situation (meaning weather and changing of venue) couldn’t get any worse, her dog got sprayed by a SKUNK! So, in the middle of it all, her dad saves the day and gives it a bath on the patio (while its literally raining out). That’s love, guys. Seriously.

While I could write a lot more, I’m not going to. I’m going to let their images do the talking here. Remember that you can click on the images to see them in their full size!
