Stunning Senior Session in Abilene, TX | Angela Wilson Photography

Good morning all of my beautiful people!  We are on the tail end of June, although it FEELS like December to me.  Does it feel like that to you?  I saw something on Facebook or Instagram (who actually knows anymore) about putting up the Christmas tree right now to bring a little happiness back into life and I thought for a split second that it was a genius idea - until I remembered that I add an additional 1,200 lights to my tree and all of a sudden it doesn’t feel like December anymore.  I think I’ll wait another four months for that after all.  Haha!  At least we have a swimming pool to keep miss Willow busy this summer while we wait to see what the heck we are doing about this upcoming school year.  I’d think being a kindergartner during these times feels super strange - starting school possibly having to wear a mask, possibly schooling from home, possibly not.  Do I even have to get my child school clothes or just focus on pajamas?  And lord help us if she has to be taught by me, neither of us are prepared for that!  Anyway, I’m sure you’re just as sick of hearing about Covid-19 as I am so I will nix the complaining and focus on a gorgeous senior that came to me for pictures a couple of weeks ago!

Alex and her grandmother both contacted me asking for a late senior session.  I was thrilled, of course, because I know what challenges they have had over the last few months (academically and socially).  Furthermore, I don’t get that many senior sessions and this year has been pretty quiet due to restrictions.  We decided on my favorite location, 41 Creek, and met on a Tuesday night.  It was windy driving out there and I immediately began to worry but after we started I instantly regretted all the worry - wind works to my benefit almost every time especially if they have long, flowing hair!  Alex is a curly girl like me and we had a long conversation about it - turns out we spent a lot of our high school years straightening it only to embrace it towards the end.  I could have saved myself tons of time and energy (and split ends) if I’d just worked with what God had given me to begin with.  Here I am in my forties and I still learn these lessons from time to time.  And before I forget, did y’all look like this when you were graduating high school?  I certainly did not - Texas, what are you feeding these kids?

What was supposed to be one evening turned into two as Alex locked her keys in her car and we had to get a locksmith out to our location!  She was mortified even though I told her it was absolutely fine, things happen, right?  It worked out anyway as the wind died down overnight and there was less dust/haze in the sky.

If you know me, I’ll never be a photographer that whittles down a gallery to ten images.  Sometimes I just can’t bear to part with a pose even though it’s very similar to others in the gallery - there’s just something about it that makes me keep it.  Which is why this gallery has 48 images!

Enjoy the gallery!  Who knows when I will blog again, hopefully I’ll get there sometime in July.  Until then, please stay happy and healthy friends.
