Emotional Wedding Day in Dallas/Ft. Worth | Angela Wilson Photography

Happy New Year, guys!  While I’m a couple weeks late on wishing you this, I hope it’s found you well.  Did you resolve to make any changes in your life this year? I resolved to eat healthier but I’ve already ruined that.  11 more months, right? January is a trial month, anyway!

Today is a rainy, chilly day in Abilene.  This is in stark contrast to the beautiful weather we have witnessed over the last few months.  I think it’s supposed to freeze overnight which we have not seen in at least a month. I don’t think I can recall a warmer December or January.  Most people I know are extremely thankful for this but I miss my cold weather. What better time to sit down and write about a memorable wedding I was able to be a part of late last year.

In September, I was fortunate to capture the wedding of Rindi and Simon with Brazos Rose Photography.  We met up at the Country Abbey in the small town of Justin for a beautiful ceremony filled with friends and family.  As the ceremony was entirely indoors it gave us the opportunity to get creative with flash (it’s one of my very favorite things).

I went with the groomsmen for a bit to capture some candid moments.  I found it adorable that they watched videos of how to tie a tie on YouTube.  It was clear that Simon was a great friend to all of them and they were so proud to stand up with him.

When the ceremony began the tears came easily when Rindi’s grandfather was wheeled to his seat.  In his lap, he carried a picture of his wife who recently passed away and it was not only emotional for him but for the entire crowd - I don’t think there was a dry eye in the chapel.  We all know she watched Rindi’s big day from Heaven but to have her there in person, in this way, was special.

After the ceremony, we all drove a quick five minutes to the reception being held at The Texas Motor Speedway.  As you walk in, it was so perfectly decorated and fit Rindi’s style and personality so well; a little bit retro/bohemian and lots of romance.  After first dances and dinner we were able to whisk the newlyweds away for a few minutes of sunset shooting outside.

The night ended with a hilarious garter toss and perfect sparkler send off.  As you can see in the images below, this couple is in true love and it’s great to know that just by looking at them.  Here’s to many years of good health and happiness!
