A Romantic Maternity Session in View TX | Abilene Maternity Photographer

One thing that I never realized I’d enjoy when I started this journey in photography is the immense joy that comes from returning clients. Clients that turn into friends. Friends that trust you to capture VERY important parts of their life. The session I’m blogging about today is just a little part of Rachel and Cory’s story, a story I’ve been capturing since 2018. I’m genuinely happy to say that they’re my friends now.

Rachel and Cory won a free engagement session back in 2018 when I was wanting to dip my feet into couples, engagements, and weddings. It turned out to be a FANTASTIC session and I was so blessed to have met them. Fast forward to a year after that, and I’m photographing their wedding (you can read the blog about the wedding here). Here when I think they couldn’t be any more perfect, Rachel texts me early this year to tell me they’re expecting. WHOAH, that was quick, kids! We took the next couple of months to plan out where we would do the session and what she would wear. The blue dress below is one she picked up and the burgundy dress has been in my client closet for a few years now. When I say burgundy is this girls color, I truly mean it. It’s PERFECT with her hair color and complexion, it’s really no wonder why she chose it. I photographed her sister Robin’s maternity session last year and she wore it, too, making it a little sentimental.

We chose 41 Creek out in View for our location, which is a favorite spot of mine for at least a year now. It has the best view around Abilene, in my opinion, for outdoor sessions. I highly recommend it to any family that wants a shoot in nature.

We met about an hour before sunset and walked to multiple spots at 41 that give the prettiest light. I think my favorite part of the session is the little airplanes they brought along - they’re going in his nursery and Dad has high aspirations for his little boy to be a pilot when he grows up. I’m generally not one for props, but when it’s perfect, it’s PERFECT.

Today I had the pleasure of meeting their little boy for a newborn session and I can’t wait to show you all pictures of that session! I was dethroned as Swaddling Champ of Abilene today, unfortunately. Tyler popped his right arm and both legs out of a tight swaddle and I can say that was a first for me! I wanted to get their maternity blog up before I show off adorable little Tyler.
