A Gorgeous Wedding at The Grace Museum in Abilene TX | Angela Wilson Photography

Happy Monday, friends!  I am thankful for being able to write the next couple of blogs.  A few short months ago I didn’t think I’d be photographing any weddings this year, let alone documenting them on my website.  Seeing how Covid-19 happened this year and devastated many brides’ beautiful days and endless hours of planning.  If you are engaged and just happen to stumble upon this piece, know that my heart goes out to you.  You worked so hard on your big day, I hope it becomes all that you had envisioned!  I met Kim and Seth Westfall a few months ago and I was able to document their wedding day on August 8, 2020.

I actually met Kim and Seth just a few months ago at a local breakfast café and we spoke about their vision for their big day as well as what I offer for weddings.  I, to this day, still remember how delicious Seth’s breakfast sandwich looked, haha!  If you can’t tell already, this girl loves her food!  I learned that Kim is a local art teacher and Seth works at Dyess.  Such a sweet couple, I was absolutely thrilled when they said they’d love for me to photograph their wedding day.

Fast forward to just a month before the wedding and I take their engagement pictures.  You can see them here, if you haven’t yet!  Seth seemed quiet when we first met, and I was almost taken aback by how much fun he was at his engagement session, we had a lot of funny times and even recreated a famous painting per his request.  As we walk and talk, I discover that they are both avid runners and that they actually know my boss (I’m a Dental Hygienist by day, if you haven’t seen that yet) and his wife.  Small world, right?

Seth met Kim when they were waiting on a mutual friend who was running late to go on a 12-mile run.  They hit it off and do you know what their first date was?  Yep, another run.  A 14-mile run, to be exact.  Probably doesn’t sound fun if you’re like me but if you love it and have great company, I’m sure it was amazing.  In fact, I’m positive it was amazing because they are now married!

They got married in the courtyard at The Grace Museum surrounded by family and closest loved ones just a few short weeks ago.  Kim is so creative (remember, she is an art teacher!) that she put special touches on masks for the guests as well as many other things you’ll see below.  They were blessed to have family fly in from out of state (and I do mean truly blessed as you never know what travel restrictions we’ll have from one day to the next).

Key moments I’ll always remember from their day is the bride and groom first look across the street– this was so touching because it was surrounded by their family and followed up with breaking of a glass (Seth and his family are of Jewish faith).  The reception took place on the roof of The Grace and it was GORGEOUS, there isn’t another way to word it.  My second photographer and I were lucky enough to steal the newlyweds for 15 minutes before the guests came upstairs and we got some gorgeous sunset pictures.  Another memorable moment was when the guests lifted both Seth and Kim up in chairs and danced around them in a circle, the Horah dance.  Kim’s face was utterly priceless.

Enjoy the highlights below, I know I did.  If you are looking to talk to me about shooting your wedding, you can start here!
